More and more countries are doing everything they can to prevent an outbreak of African swine fever and are imposing strict rules on biosecurity in hog barns. Paneltim panels are therefore used worldwide for the design of swine housing. New Standard USA also uses Paneltim Lightweight panels for the construction of farrowing pens to ensure optimum hygiene in the stables.
Hygienic pen design
Paneltim panels help to ensure hygiene in the stable thanks to two characteristic features. Firstly, dirt cannot penetrate the panels because the edges of panels are all sealed thanks to the internal cell structure. Secondly, Paneltim panels are easily and quickly cleaned with a high pressure sprayer and easy to disinfect. The panels remain intact even after frequent cleaning.
Alternative to PVC
PVC is often used for designing penning. These sheets have open edges through which dirt and bacteria penetrate and sometimes even mice take up residence. This increases the risk of disease outbreaks in the pen for which newborn piglets are particularly vulnerable. It is of course possible to seal PVC sheets with sealant, but this is a labor-intensive job that must be repeated every few years. If these working hours are taken into account, the price advantage of PVC is quickly lost.
